Week 7: A Love Letter in Game

Week7: A Love Letter in Game

Source flash file is available here.

Before you play, be aware that you can steer the heart once you've fired it by putting the mouse above, below, or to the sides of it.

Some of you may not like this game. That's OK. I freely admit that it is way too hard and gives the player too little feedback about their performance. Specifically, close to the end of a firing cycle things become pretty random and difficulty to control pretty fast. All I can say is: this thing took a week, including my first handwritten pseudo 3D engine. That's pretty darned good, even though I'd love another week to polish it. I've trimmed and helped the player in all the ways that I can, but in general this one is just tough. If you get out to 150, you're doing really well.

More than that, though, thematically this game is just made as a love letter to one very special person. Hopefully she'll get the positive energies of dozens of people on the internet trying to kiss her. On second thought, that sounds creepy. Oh well, too late now. Anyway, if you don't like the theme of this week's game, you heartless troll, I'll probably be back next week with something meat-based or otherwise slightly creepy again. So stay tuned!

One Bad Game a Week

What would you make if you didn't have time for options, menus, art, polish, attention to detail, or debugging? You'd be left making one bad game a week, each week, for a full year.
