Walking along crumbling, thousand-year-old roadways you're just as likely to see an ancient gold Buddha, vagrants cooking banana peels and rice, or a stack of cellphones with leaky batteries. I remember finding a run-down shack on stilts with no walls, but with a gleaming new Chevy Silvarado in the driveway.
