Project Vision
What if there were something to do in MMORPGs? What if you
could play adventure games with other people? What if role-playing
games involved, well, role-playing? What if you could be the
hero of a great adventure? Or the villain, the butler, the
henchman, boss of the crime-ring, the world's best hired gun...
or the sole survivor bent on revenge? Or the grue that waits
until they drop their flashlights...
What if there were a game where you could play stories, where
being level ten or level twenty didn't mean a damn thing,
where you could pilot the Millenium Falcon without having
to be Harrison Ford? What if the adventures had stories as
awesome as Three Kings or Gladiator or Sixth Sense or Amelie...
and you were a lead role?
We're building a new kind of game, a game about adventure
where the adventure comes first and crates are unheard of.
Where you don't choose your own, you *tell* it. The Storygame
Initiative is building a new type of game, the answer to these
questions and more, a new form of online story-based interaction
that isn't afraid to stray out of genre and is dedicated to
making story equal gameplay.
Project Goals
- Create a plot-driven game where players drive the plot
- Evolve the integration of player-driven events and multiplayer
interactions
- Draw in a wider audience by creating a less violent, more
intuitive gameplay system based on existing skills
- Play up strengths of the existing frameworks while experimenting
heavily in new design directions
- Create an "episode shell" for player created
content
- Tailor the game length to busier lifestyles
